Everything You Need to Know About Essential Oils
What are Essential Oils?
Etain, our Natural Remedies advisor, explains: “Essential oils are liquid extracts from plants. They have a much stronger smell and contain a higher level of active ingredients. This is due to the amount of plant matter required to make essential oils.
Aromatherapy involves diffusing these oils into the air where some of the potentially helpful compounds may benefit the body when inhaled. Humans have used aromatherapy for thousands of years. Some of the most well-known forms of aromatherapy that are used in everyday life are menthol being used to clear nasal congestion and lavender to aid sleep and relaxation.
Essential oils can be used in a diffuser or topically when combined with a carrier oil/cream. They can help with an array of things from pain management, anxiety and stress, to concentration, fungal infections and digestion.”
