This paste can be added to smoothies, hot or cold milk (cinnamon and honey optional), freshly brewed tea, or rice. Heating the turmeric and combining with spices and oil greatly enhances the bio-availability of the curcumin – the active component in turmeric.
2-3 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
1/3 cup / 70ml coconut / virgin olive / flaxseed oil
1/2 cup / 60g turmeric powder
1 / 250ml cups water
Place turmeric and water in a pan. Heat, stirring constantly until you have a thick paste.
Add additional water as required.
Add freshly ground pepper and oil at the end of cooking.
*** Will keep for a week or so if stored in the fridge, and it can be frozen.
