Why Raw Cacao?
Raw cacao is one of nature’s richest sources of antioxidants and magnesium, helping to support mood, energy, and overall wellbeing. Because it’s minimally processed, it retains more of its beneficial compounds than conventional cocoa powder - making it a great choice for healthy indulgence.
Ingredients (makes 6–8 small cups)
- ½ cup raw cacao butter (melted)
- ½ cup raw cacao powder
- 3 tbsp maple syrup (or to taste) 🍁
- ½ cup almond butter (or nut butter of choice)
Optional toppings:
🌹 Dried rose petals, sea salt flakes, crushed nuts or cacao nibs (we used cacao nibs for a lovely crunch!)
🛒 All ingredients are available to buy in-store at Wild Oats.
Method
-
Melt the raw cacao butter gently in a heatproof bowl over a pan of hot water (double boiler style).
-
Whisk in the raw cacao powder and maple syrup until smooth and glossy.
-
Line a muffin tin or silicone moulds with paper cases.
-
Spoon a thin layer of the chocolate mixture into each case and place in the freezer for about 5 minutes to set.
-
Add a teaspoon of almond butter to the centre of each cup.
-
Pour over the remaining chocolate mixture to fully cover the nut butter.
-
Top with your chosen decorations — rose petals, sea salt, nuts or cacao nibs.
-
Chill in the fridge until completely set.
Enjoy straight from the fridge for a perfectly smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture.
Wild Oats Tip
Try experimenting with different nut butters - hazelnut gives a Ferrero Rocher-style flavour, while cashew keeps it beautifully creamy. You can even add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla for extra warmth.
